Isla Usher Textiles
Logo Suite: Isla Usher Textiles
Finishing this work signalled the completion of my first freelance project! I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to design branding for a new business, and being able to apply everything I’ve learnt has been incredibly rewarding.
Everything below covers the project in its entirety, including the final brand board, as well as some alternative variations and process pictures!

Isla Usher Textiles
Finalised Logo Suite
Provided with a brief detailing exactly what was required, I began to create a full logo suite for Isla Usher Textiles. The main requirement was to design visual branding that accurately communicated the brand’s essence: playful, vibrant, and versatile.
As the nature of Isla’s prints were very expressive and playful, and she wanted this sentiment to be communicated through the branding, I chose to incorporate elements of her work in the logos themselves. This can be seen in the backgrounds of some of the secondary logo and submark options, and the colour palette was directly inspired by the print’s colours too!
In the end, Isla loved the branding I’d created, and went with the orange (‘Peach’) variation! Reflecting on the work I produced, I’m very happy with the end result, and especially grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my skills in a real-life setting.
All of the branding was produced in Adobe Illustrator. The finalised output was a PDF brand board with all of the assets, as well as the individual files (white background + transparent PNGs) of all the branding elements.

Variations
Isla Usher Textiles
Before arriving at the finished brand board, I designed and trialled many different variations of the branding. For a starting point, I asked Isla which of her prints that she’d designed were her favourite, and used those as a base for the initial design variations. For further variation, I chose two fonts which I felt fit the brief and communicated the brand’s essence.
I then translated the printwork into secondary logo options and different versions of submarks. This included trialling patterned backgrounds and text, or having ‘Textiles’ curving around the logo. All of the initial ideas were sent back to the client for feedback, including annotations providing further information and reasonings for design choices.
The two favoured design variations were then simplified and colour blocked, as per the client’s request. In the end, there were around 10 different colour versions for the final selection, and the winner can be seen above!
